Marshall University Student Activities Casino Night

We had a wonderful turnout for the Marshall University Student Activities casino night at the historic Keith Albee Theater in Huntington. About 200 students and friends showed up to take part in the evenings festivities of gaming, dancing, and comedians.

The evening started with free souvenir photos with the authentic showgirls as guests arrived. After the photo the host provided a program of the night's events and a packet of "funny money" ($25,000). Guests were invited to go upstairs to the casino floor and play authentic casino games. Tuxedoed dealers paid out winnings all night in the games of blackjack, craps, hi-lo, roulette, color-wheel, slot machines, and the popular $20,000 buy in hold-em tournament.

DJ Thunder was on hand to spin all the hits and fill requests all night on the big stage which was jumpin with all the moving lights, big sound and decorated with an over sized roulette wheel.

At 9:30 the casino floor closed and everyone gathered around the stage for the first comedian of the night. Tim Northern who is a regular on the Bob & Tom show, XM, Sirius, and Fox TV performed first with his side splitting act that had everyone laughing. After his set the casino floor opened back up for another hour of gaming.

Warren B. Hall who has been in Iraq performing for the troops took the comic stage next. His personal approach to the crowd was great and everyone was yelling and laughing as he picked on the blonde in the front row. Warren stuck around to mingle with the crowd for the rest of the night and I am sure he gained some material for his next show.

The night closed as players cashed out for tickets. $5,000 bought one raffle ticket and for some big winners who had over a million dollars it meant tons of tickets. After everyone was cashed out the drawing of tickets began. If your ticket came up you were able to step on stage and spin the money wheel. $1500 in cold hard cash was given away at the end of the night.

The event was a great success and provided something different for everyone to take part in. The atmosphere of the Keith Albee is perfect for having events like these. If anyone is interested in having a casino night for a fundraiser or special event let me know. We have a great program and would love to bring it to you.
